Time to put on your green and show some Irish spirit! You don’t have to be Irish to enjoy the Sioux Falls St. Patrick’s Day parade and events. Put a few of these on your calendar, and let us know if we missed one.
🍀 Sioux Falls St. Patrick’s Day Parade
Did you know that the Sioux Falls St. Patrick’s Day parade has been a proud downtown Sioux Falls tradition since 1980? It all started when Sylvia Henkin decided she wanted to celebrate the Irish spirit with everyone in Sioux Falls.
- Saturday, March 14
- Painting of the Shamrock | 11:00 AM
- Parade Line-Up | 12:30 PM
- Parade Begins | 2:00 PM
One of the cool things about our parade is that anyone can participate. As long as you are wearing one of the official St. Patrick’s Day Parade buttons, you can join in on the fun. The buttons are around $3.00, and the proceeds go to the Special Olympics and other Sioux Falls’ charities.
Those with floats and other entries in the parade should enter the staging area from 11th Street. For more detailed information on where the parade route flows through the city and other important places, grab the free parade route map by clicking the button below.
🏃♀️ St. Patty’s Day Mile
Another popular St. Patrick’s Day tradition is the running/walking of the St. Patty’s Day Mile alongside the Big Sioux River. There are to out and back options that include the 5-mile and the 3.11-mile courses. Additionally, there is a 1-mile course that puts you leading the way for the Sioux Falls St. Patrick’s Day Parade!
